Teaching
. . . in their synagogues . . .
Matt. 4:23
“Our teaching is based on God’s blueprint of True Education.”
True education is missionary training. Every son and daughter of God is called to be a missionary; we are called to the service of God and our fellow men; and to fit us for this service should be the object of our education. {MH 395.1}
The system of education instituted at the beginning of the world was to be a model for man throughout all aftertime. As an illustration of its principles a model school was established in Eden, the home of our first parents. The Garden of Eden was the schoolroom, nature was the lesson book, the Creator Himself was the instructor, and the parents of the human family were the students. {Ed 20.1}
His [Christ] education was gained from Heaven- appointed sources, from useful work, from the study of the Scriptures, from nature, and from the experiences of life– God’s lesson books, full of instruction to all who bring to them the willing hand, the seeing eye, and the understanding heart. {MH 400.1}
We see, therefore, that there are four elements of true education:
- Useful work
- Study of the Scriptures
- Nature
- Experiences of Life
Christ imparted only that knowledge which could be utilized… To those who were so eager to pluck from the tree of knowledge, He offered the fruit of the tree of life. {MH 448.2}
